Affiliate Disclosure
The short version: some links on The Kit Shed are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission from the retailer. You pay nothing extra — the price is identical to going direct.
The Kit Shed participates in affiliate programs operated by sports retailers and affiliate networks. When you click a "Visit Store" link on our site, a tracking parameter may be added to the link so the retailer knows we referred you.
What this means for you:
- You never pay more by using our links. Commissions come out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
- Commissions don't influence which retailers we list. A retailer is included only if it passes our licensing vetting process. Retailers cannot pay for placement.
- We don't write fake reviews or rank retailers by who pays us most. Recommendations reflect official licensing, range, and reliability.
This disclosure is provided in line with consumer protection and advertising transparency requirements, including FTC guidance for US visitors and equivalent EU/UK rules on commercial disclosure.
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data The Kit Shed collects when you use the site, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Email address — only if you sign up to our new-kit alerts newsletter. That's the only personal information we ask for.
- Usage data — like most websites, we may collect anonymous analytics (pages visited, device type, approximate region) to understand how the site is used and improve it.
What we do with it
- Newsletter emails are used solely to send you kit release alerts. We don't sell, rent, or share your email with anyone.
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and we'll delete your address from our list.
- Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous — we can't and don't use it to identify you personally.
What we don't do
- We don't process payments — purchases happen on the retailer's site under their privacy policy.
- We don't store payment details, addresses, or order information. We never see them.
- We don't sell personal data to third parties. Full stop.
Cookies
The Kit Shed may use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Affiliate tracking — when you click through to a retailer, the retailer or affiliate network may set a cookie so the referral can be attributed. These cookies are governed by the retailer's own policy.
- Analytics — anonymous usage measurement, if enabled.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will keep working.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR in the EU/UK), you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (for most visitors, that's at most an email address)
- Ask us to correct or delete that data
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time
